Furries? at MY university!?

It's more likely than you think!

As the first club established under Anthropomorphic Animal Appreciation Association (AAAA) in 2022, we strive to create a welcoming environment for all furries (and non-furries) here at UC Berkeley, and internationally! Through AAAA, furry clubs at universities have been able to grow and interact with each other, building community for thousands of people.

What is a furry?

A furry is someone who identifies as such and is a fan of anthropomorphic animals, or animal characters with human characteristics. These characters may be bipedal, wear clothes, and be capable of humanoid facial expressions and speech. The community is very centered around self -expression through illustrations, music, video games, fursuits, and other artistic mediums. However, there’s no one right way to be a furry!

How do I get involved?

Please reach out to us on social media, or find us tabling on Sproul Plaza! From there we can share links to our discord and mailing list, where we send out monthly updates.

And if you’re interested in assisting our club fiscally, we also have merchandise available for sale here!

Common Myths & FAQs

Here are some common questions we get from non-furries:

Nope! Our club is open to anyone interested in joining, regardless of school status. Faculty, staff, grad students, a stranger walking down Telegraph..? Everyone is welcome!

No! And if you are interested in becoming one, we host multiple meetings and workshops on how to create a fursona (furry + sona), as well as other artistic and furry-related topics each month.

Nope! We actively discourage any and all adult content from being shared/discussed in our community spaces. While some aspects of the furry community delve into more adult/NSFW topics, as a club we are safe for all ages!

Fursuits are not a requirement to be a furry! For those who do have them, many members in the community either make their own suits, or pay other artists to create one for them. These can range in price from a few hundred dollars all the way into the thousands!
